Astrology books in German are harder to find than you would expect. Not horoscope books — those exist everywhere. I mean working references. The kind you keep open on the desk while you have a chart in front of you and you need to know what Saturn in the eleventh house actually does to a person’s friendships, not what it does to their “energy.”

That gap is why I started translating the Astrology Made Easy series. Five volumes are now available in German under the title Astrologie verstehen — “Understanding Astrology” — and more are coming.

What is available now

The German edition follows the same structure as the English one. Nothing was cut, nothing was simplified for a new market. If anything, the translation forced me to be more precise, because German does not tolerate vague astrological language the way English does. You cannot write around a concept in German. You either know what you mean or the sentence collapses.

The natal chart, in two volumes:

Astrologie verstehen: Ein umfassender Leitfaden zu den Tierkreiszeichen und Horoskophäusern im Geburtshoroskop — signs and houses. This is the foundation. Every sign, every house, what happens when a house cusp falls where it falls, and how the ruler of that house changes the reading depending on where it lands.

Astrologie verstehen: Ein umfassender Leitfaden zu Planeten und Aspekten im Geburtshoroskop — planets and aspects. Each planet in each sign, each planet in each house, and the aspects between them. This is the volume people actually use most, because this is where a chart stops being a diagram and starts being a person.

The Solar Return, in three parts:

The Solar Return work is the part of my practice I am most protective of, because it is where most astrologers get lazy. They look at the return chart in isolation, announce that it is “a year of transformation,” and move on. That is not a reading. A Solar Return only means something when you lay it over the natal chart and see which natal points it activates — which is what the third volume is entirely about. Chart overlays, and how to interpret them without inventing things.

Why German first

Because the German-speaking astrological tradition is serious, and it deserves serious material.

I do not say that as flattery. The readers I hear from in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland ask harder questions than most. They want to know the house system. They want to know why I use Koch. They notice when a rulership assignment is unconventional and they ask about it. That is exactly the audience a working reference book is written for.

The alternative — leaving those readers with translated pop-astrology and hoping they piece the rest together from forums — did not sit well with me.

What is coming next

The translation pipeline continues. Planned:

Transits, in two volumes. The English edition is a single large book, and I have decided to split it in two for the German release. The original is simply too heavy — physically and financially — to make sense as one printed volume, and splitting it lets each half breathe. Transits are the most practical predictive tool an astrologer has, and I want that material to be usable, not to sit on a shelf because the book is unwieldy.

Synastry, in two volumes. Relationship astrology, following the same structure as the English series — planet-to-planet contacts, house overlays, and what a composite chart can and cannot tell you.

Financial astrology. This one I am still deciding on, though I am leaning toward yes. Money is the subject clients ask about most and the subject astrology writing handles worst, usually by refusing to say anything concrete. I would rather say something concrete and be held to it.

A note on readings, in any language
