Check the Conflict Planets First

Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, and Pluto are the conflict planets. Before anything else, count the hard aspects they make between the two charts. This single number tells you more about how a relationship will hold up under pressure than any sun sign pairing ever could.

Look for the Seal of Happiness

When one person’s Jupiter makes a harmonious aspect to the other’s Sun or Moon, the relationship carries built-in support and goodwill. Saturn in hard aspect to the partner’s Sun or Moon works the opposite way — it’s one of the heaviest single indicators in synastry.

Orbs Matter More Than You Think

A contact at 2° and a contact at 7° are not the same weight. For most cross-aspects, work within 6 degrees; for Sun–Moon contacts, up to 8. Wider than that, and you’re reading noise.

From Two Birth Dates to a Working Chart

Here’s what happens when you press Calculate — and what to do with the result.

Step One: Enter Both Birth Details

Date, time, and city of birth for each person. Exact birth time matters more in synastry than people expect — without it, Moon aspects and house overlays lose precision. If one time is unknown, the chart still works, just read the Moon contacts with caution.

Step Two: Get the Full Aspect Map

The calculator builds both natal charts and finds every cross-aspect between them — conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions, with exact orbs. No scores, no percentages: real astrological data, the same chart a professional starts from.

Step Three: Read It — or Have It Read

The chart shows you what contacts exist. Weighing them — which aspects dominate, which cancel each other out, and what the combination means for this specific relationship — is the actual work of synastry. The complete method, from conflict planets to the final verdict, is laid out in Astrology Made Easy: Relationship Astrology — or you can have Rowena read the chart for you.

Synastry Is One Lens. Here’s the Rest of the Map

A relationship is two people — and each of them has a full chart of their own. These free tools complete the picture.

Natal Chart — Who Each of You Is

Before two charts can be compared, each one has to be understood on its own. Your natal chart shows what you bring into any relationship — your needs, your patterns, your non-negotiables.

Transits — What’s Activating the Relationship Now

Relationships go through seasons, and transits show which one you’re in. A rough patch under a heavy transit is not the same as a structural problem in the synastry.

Solar Return — What This Year Holds for You

Your birthday chart sets the themes for the year ahead — including whether relationships are in the foreground or the background of it.

The Chart Is Free. Knowing What It Means Is the Real Value

You now have the full synastry chart — every contact between two lives, mapped. A compatibility reading by Rowena takes it the rest of the way: which aspects will define this relationship, which ones are workable, and what the two charts say about where this is going. Written personally, for your two charts and no one else’s.
